Color instead of plain wood!

This week the stain was started - Colonial Cherry Woodguard

A lot of activity has been going on at the house lately. Finish grading has been started and hopefully the area out in front of the house will be relatively level for a large parking area.

The ceilings, soffits and fascias have been finished on the porches. The board and batten siding has been installed in the gable ends. Mechanical work has started on the heating/AC and the steps are in to the basement. After the stain is finished it's time for stone. They are trying to wrap up the exterior work before it gets too cold.

I'm buying a ton of stuff for the house now which is totally fun. The Sub Zero was delivered to our office this week so it will have to patiently wait until it's ready to be installed.

I found your blog from a question you posted on another website about Hammerton and Scottsdale Art Factory. To answer that question, Hammerton does not supply any fixtures to SAF. I work in the R&D dept. of Hammerton, and I know this to be true. We do however have a website with pictures that appear on SAF's website. I guess one way to cut cost is to not have to design, build, or photograph your own products. This particular sconce, (the exact picture) can be seen on page 38 of our newest Log & Timber catalog. We have been building it for several years, but we have a new catalog.

Whether or not this practice is right, is not up to me to judge. It is up to consumers who end up buying the products. If they don't care , or don't know then I guess it's all good.

Thanks for posting the updated fixture photograph. That is obviously not the same fixture as the previously posted photo. I hope you didn't base your decision to purchase from SAF on that picture.

Nate: After a long battle through American Express, we were able to get a full refund on those ugly lights from Scottsdale Art Factory. We definitely were deceived as to what their products actually are but fortunately we were able to return them and in the end the fixtures that we ended up with are so much better than anything that SAF could come up with. Thanks for your help in giving us the facts.
